The new 39,000-SF facility will expand the School of Music’s capacity for large-scale performances through a 400-500-seat concert hall, designed for acoustic versatility to adapt to various sizes and types of performances. It will also include state-of-the-art applied music teaching studios, a high-tech recording studio suite, specialized labs for emerging technologies like AI-composition, dedicated musical instrument storage space, and a multipurpose lobby. Renovations to the existing Music Building, originally built in 1971, include upgrading acoustics in critical areas of the existing building as part of the effort to continue enhancing the building’s functionality for modern music education. The project is seeking GBI Green Globes – 3 Globes sustainable certification.
