Barr & Barr is pleased to celebrate the groundbreaking of the School of Health & Patient Simulation modernization project at Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield, MA.
This significant investment will relocate SHPS into Building 2, a 178,000 SF facility undergoing a comprehensive, multi-floor renovation. The project will transform five levels of the existing seven-story building into state-of-the-art educational space supporting programs including Nursing, Surgical Technology, Radiology, Respiratory Care, and more.
The modernization includes full interior renovations, targeted upgrades to the building envelope, and campus-wide ADA and life safety improvements. The project will also incorporate advanced simulation environments and clinical training spaces, including forward-facing patient care areas that support real-world learning experiences.
Barr & Barr is serving as Construction Manager-at-Risk, providing comprehensive preconstruction and construction services, including detailed phasing to support ongoing building occupancy throughout construction.
In partnership with STCC, DCAMM, and Lavallee Brensinger Architects, this project will deliver a modernized facility that enhances healthcare education and strengthens workforce development across the region, with completion anticipated in January 2027.
