Yesterday’s National Safety Week Spotlight was on our Sarasota Memorial Hospital North Port Campus project. We partnered with Ritz Safety – they walked our team through proper harness inspection, correct fit, and safe use. How to properly adjust leg and chest straps to ensuring proper D-Ring placement, the focus was on making sure that everyone knows how to don the harness properly. The team also reviewed the critical differences in fall distances between shock absorbing lanyards and self-retracting lanyards (SRL), reinforcing our requirements for SRLs on this project. Suspension trauma was discussed and the proper use of suspension relief straps was taught. To bring it all together employees stepped up to properly don a harness, showing hands on learning techniques.
